China Mobile to Boost Investment in Pakistan in 2009

In the wake of its announcement to invest in 2008 another US$800 million in expanding networks in CMPak, China Mobile's wholly-owned Pakistan subsidiary, China Mobile recently revealed its plan to invest an additional US$500 million in CMPak during 2009, Xinhua News reported. CMPak stated that the investment will be used for building new network capacity and other infrastructure.

China Mobile has been applying GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution), PDH (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy), and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) technologies in CMPak's network expansion since 2007.
